Ruth Wright Obituary

Ruth Ann Wright
Born: March 6, 1945 in Princeton, IL
Died: January 30, 2026 in Princeton, IL
Princeton - Ruth Ann Wright, age 80, of Princeton, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Liberty Village.
Ruth Ann was born on March 6, 1945, in Princeton, Illinois, to the late William Giesenhagen and Verda Halladay Giesenhagen. She was a proud graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1964.
On July 16, 1967, Ruth Ann married the love of her life, Francis Wright, at the First United Methodist Church in Princeton. They shared over 58 years of marriage until Francis's passing on December 10, 2025. Their love and commitment were a guiding light throughout their lives.
Ruth Ann dedicated 35 years of service as a local bank teller, and retired from Amcore in 2011, where she was known for her warm smile, friendly conversation, and genuine care for the people she served. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church, participating in the Bell Choir for more than 30 years and teaching Sunday school for several years, quietly shaping the lives of many through her kindness and faith.
Family was at the heart of Ruth Ann's life. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren and found joy in life's simple pleasures-reading, taking walks, going on bus trips, collecting bells, salt and pepper shakers and Elvis memorabilia, traveling, and sharing time with friends. A daily ritual she never missed was her lunch break, spent watching her favorite soap opera, One Life to Live.
Survived by two daughters Kathy (Darrell Fuchs) Humphreys of Princeville, IL and Susan (Mark)Johnson of Tiskilwa, IL.; one son Kenny (Jessica Rockey) Wright of Pekin, IL; grandchildren Nicholas (Christina) Humphreys of Chillicothe, IL, Ali (Eric) Featherstone of Chillicothe, IL, Alec Johnson of Marseilles, IL and Arik Johnson of Princeton, IL; one great grandson Noah Humphreys.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents; William and Verda Giesenhagen, husband Francis Wright, and one brother, Robert Giesenhagen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Friends of Strays, reflecting her compassionate spirit.
