Ruth Zentgraf Obituary
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Charles Shaw Sr. and Ernestine R. (Borrell) Shaw. She graduated from Muhlenberg Township High School, Class of 1966. She retired in 2015 after 25 years with R.M. Palmer Candy, Wyomissing. She did enjoy work and was known for working hard.
Ruth was the matriarch of her family and loved spending time with her granddaughters, they were the light of her life. Her favorite color might have been purple, but she supported the red and rooted for the Philadelphia Phillies, especially Bryce Harper. With a hospitable attitude and quick wit, she enjoyed her neighbors and looked out for the entire neighborhood. She never missed an event of her children or her granddaughters and loved going to breakfast with Fred. She was a lottery ticket enthusiastic and enjoyed riding on the back of Kerry's Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Left to treasure her memory are her husband, Fred; children, Kerry Newcomb (Deceased) and wife Tina of York; Frederick W. Zentgraf Jr and wife Amy of Hanover; Sommer Cope and husband Patrick of Alburtis; granddaughters, Olivia, Finley, and Avie; siblings, Charles Shaw, Jr. of Riverview Park, Robert Shaw and wife June of Laureldale, and Elizabeth "Liz" Smith and husband Thomas of Muhlenberg Park, who was her best friend; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents; sister Nancy Shaw; and brother John Shaw.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 10 AM at Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 5153 Kutztown Road, Temple, PA 19560. The visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of the Celebration of Life. The family encourages you to celebrate Ruth's life by wearing your favorite purple or Philadelphia Phillies gear.
