Ruven M. Velasquez, 75, of Uvalde passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his residence.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
He was born on September 29, 1949, in Uvalde, Texas to Cecilia (Martinez) and Jesus Velasquez.
He married Norma Lee Hinojosa, on December 7, 1985, in Uvalde, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Norma Velasquez of Uvalde; two daughters, Michelle Torres and husband, Roy of Uvalde and Alice “Jenny” Marsh and husband, Earl Marsh of San Antonio; two sons, Jorge Rodriguez and Jonathan “OZ” Velasquez and wife, Danika all of Uvalde; two brothers, Rene Velasquez and wife, Anita and Richard Velasquez and wife, Martha all of Uvalde; 15 grandchildren, Rankin Falcon, Kayla Rodriguez, Taylor Cerda, Randy Falcon, George Rodriguez, Tiffany Gonzales, Tyler Gonzales, Kaitlyn Ramirez, Ryder Torres, Sean Rivas, Madi Velasquez, Jaden Velasquez, Zak Velasquez, Lynn Lee Maddox, Zerrik Velasquez and Zeke Velasquez; 19 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Esperanza Ruiz.
Pallbearers will be Rankin Falcon, Randy Falcon, Ryder Torres, Jorge Rodriguez JR, Zak-Anthony Velasquez, Carlos Ovalle, Erik Estrada, Delmiro "Cujo" Rodriguez, and Mike Hernandez III.
