Ryan James Cody, 45, of
Naples, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on February 15, 2026, in a tragic plane crash near the Ten Thousand Islands in Collier County. Born on January 22, 1981, at Providence Hospital in El Paso, Texas-on the very day the American hostages were released from Iran after 444 days of captivity-Ryan entered the world amid a moment of national joy and relief, a fitting beginning for a man who brought light and positivity to so many.
Ryan was the cherished eldest son of Bob and Jamie Cody of East Naples, and a devoted big brother to Jared Cody, whom he loved deeply and protected with unwavering loyalty throughout their lives. Their bond was one of lifelong support, shared adventures, genuine brotherly affection, and mutual encouragement-Ryan always put family first, especially his younger brother, guiding and cheering him on every step of the way.
He was a proud and loving father to his daughter, Anna, age 8, who lived in Illinois and was the absolute light of his life. Ryan was fully committed to being the best father he could be, treasuring every moment with Anna and cherishing the special connection they shared.
A dedicated member of St. Finbarr Catholic Parish in Naples, Ryan served faithfully as the full-time business manager and volunteered joyfully with the youth ministry, including teaching confirmation classes. Colleagues, parishioners, and the young people he guided remember him as an exemplary church member-always cheerful, lively, and thinking of others before himself. He brought joy to everything he did, approached his work with enthusiasm, and left a legacy of kindness that touched countless lives. As one friend shared, "He was a faithful man with a huge heart," and his positive light will endure in the memories of all who knew him.
Ryan enjoyed reading deeply about his faith, which nourished his spirit and inspired his daily life. He loved golfing, skiing, and, more recently, driving for Uber-not just as a job, but as an opportunity to meet new people and share the word of God with anyone open to conversation. His warmth, humor, and genuine interest in others made even brief encounters meaningful.
He is survived by his parents, Bob and Jamie Cody; his beloved brother, Jared Cody; his cherished daughter, Anna Cody; and a wide circle of friends and extended family at St. Finbarr Catholic Parish and beyond.
A vigil and remembrance were held at St. Finbarr Catholic Church, where the community gathered to honor his life, share stories of his profound impact, and find comfort in one another.
