Ryan Lloyd Dawson, 54, passed away on December 25, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio, the city where he was also born.
Ryan is survived by his parents, Robert and Nancy Dawson; his brother, Aaron Dawson, his wife Nikki, his nieces, Olivia and Maddie; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. He also shared his life with his partner, Jesse, who passed away in 2022.
A graduate of Hilliard High School, Ryan spent 17 years working as a Genius at Apple, a role that perfectly matched his remarkable intellect and passion for technology. In true Ryan fashion, when he was offered the position of “genius” and congratulated, he joked that the job title might be a bit beneath him. He loved all things Apple and rarely missed owning the latest device.
Ryan was incredibly smart, possessing a near-genius intellect, but he wore it lightly. Those who knew him remember his infectious laugh, quick wit, and great sense of humor.
In addition to his work at Apple, Ryan was a certified yoga instructor at Yoga on High, where he shared his love of movement, mindfulness, and balance with others. He would say ”Don’t fall on your asana” when ending a class.
Outside of work, Ryan enjoyed yoga, woodworking, cooking, crafts, and travel. He was endlessly curious about the world and found comfort and wonder in exploration, whether through travel, creativity, or learning something new. He had a deep love for animals, most notably his robust white cat Milo, his beloved adopted dogs Roxy and Gracie. All of his animals have now passed and are with him.
Ryan’s life was rich with curiosity, creativity, and deep affection for the people and animals he loved. His presence was unmistakable, and he will be remembered for his brilliance, warmth, and the joy he brought into everyday moments.
Ryan will be cremated per his wishes, and his ashes will be spread at the grave sites of his grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank… where Ryan often volunteered.
