Ryan Henry Ferris, 53, of Dover, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025, after a long battle with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a degenerative spinal disease.
Born in Tucson, Arizona, Ryan is the son of Tommy Lynn and Vernita M. (Otte) Ferris of New Philadelphia. He graduated from Dover High School in 1990 and continued his formal education at Hocking College. His career spanned numerous years with his family’s business, Ferris Chevrolet.
Ryan was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved caring for his numerous furry, faithful companions.
His family includes his parents; children, Megan Ferris of Oxford, Mississippi, Kailey Bevins of Detroit, Michigan, and Breyer Ferris of Chattanooga, Tennessee; brother, Pat (Jessie) Ferris of New Philadelphia; aunts and uncles, Jeannie Reahm, Bill and Donna Ferris, Mary Ann Otte, and Rich Ferris; nephew, Brody Ferris; niece, Riley Ferris; and cousins, Matthew (Lisa) Ferris, Mitchell (Andrea) Ferris, Sam (Jolene) Otte, and Lucas (Christi) Otte; his forever friends, little buddy Erin Ferris, southern bell Laura Ferris; chosen families, the Waters Family and the Steve DeBois family; and numerous friends.
Ryan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Red & Wanda Ferris; grandmother, Dorothy Jean Otte; aunt, Diane Ferris-Deliz; uncle, John Otte; and cousin, Joey Otte.
A memorial visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.Pastor Josh McDonald will lead a memorial service celebrating Ryan’s life in the chapel beginning at 11 a.m.
