Ryan D. Maskey

Ryan Douglas Maskey passed into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 22, 2024. Ryan was an incredibly gifted individual with many talents and a personality that filled the room but the role he was most passionately dedicated to was his role as a loving husband and father. In Hebrews 13:4 it says, "...the two shall become one flesh" and from the moment they said, "I do" on July 15, 2000 they were truly one- Ryan and Lois Ann. To all that knew them it was clear that God had brought them together and they were inseparable in all seasons of life. They loved each other in a way that made everyone that met them believe in true love. Family meant everything to Ryan and it was through fatherhood where he shined the brightest. Alongside Lois Ann, Ryan raised 3 beautiful children, MaKenna, Layton, and Andrew.
Ryan was born on January 2, 1980 in Mexico, Mo to Steven and Donna Lee (Stuart) Maskey. As a young boy, Ryan fell in love with sports and had a vast knowledge of sports trivia from the beginning. He was an athlete in high school then passed down his love for sports to his two sons. Ryan had a particular fondness for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Alabama football Roll Tide, and of course the St Louis Cardinals. He was a man of many talents and endless hobbies. Ryan was an avid outdoorsman loving hunting and fishing with his boys. He had a love for woodworking and shared many of his pieces with our local community. When he was young, he played mud trucks in puddles and his nickname was Mud Dauber. As he grew older, his mud trucks just got bigger and more expensive. He spent many hours working on trucks for a few hours in the mud but more importantly he loved spending time with friends and family. Ryan loved and shared his knowledge of weightlifting with many, always doing what he did best and encouraging others to excel. He could round up a few of his friends to play wiffle ball and people in neighboring counties thought it was a league. Ryan was the funniest, kindest, most compassionate (give the shirt off his back), tough as nails, and hardest worker in any room -kind of guy. He had a contagious smile and the most amazing laugh you've ever heard. His time on earth was only 44 years but he left an impression on everyone he met and will never be forgotten.
Ryan is survived by his loving wife Lois Ann Maskey, and their beloved children, MaKenna, Layton, and Andrew of Wellsville; his father Steve Maskey, of Wellsville; sister Melissa Burton and husband James of Wellsville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kelly and Lois Spiers of Wellsville; two sisters-in-law, Tricia Kessel and husband Dave of Bonita Springs, FL and Dena Spiers of Wellsville; brother-in-law, Lindell Spiers and wife Jenny of Wellsville; one niece, Devyn Burton, of Fulton; one nephew, Ethan Burton, of Wellsville; and his beloved dog, Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Lee Maskey; and all of his grandparents.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday August 26, 2024, at the Hopewell Baptist Church of Wellsville where he was a member; Pastor Jim Kerr will be officiating. Private burial will follow in Wellsville Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 am until service time at the church. Pallbearers will be Layton Maskey, Lindell Spiers, James Burton, Jeff Sachs, Justin Darr, and John Maskey.
