Ryan M. Todd, 41, of Viola, IL, formerly of Monmouth, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, IA.
He was born on April 18, 1984 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Martin and Sydney L. (Boyer) Todd. Ryan was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated Monmouth High School in 2002. He later graduated from Culinary School from Kendall College in Chicago, IL.
Ryan first worked at Cerar’s Barnstormer in Monmouth, where he discovered his passion for culinary arts, which led him to a career as a chef and he worked at several restaurants in the Chicagoland area for 15 years. Ryan enjoyed participating in Cub Scouts & Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Life Scout. He was an avid Chicago Cubs & Bears fan and enjoyed watching sports in his free time.
Surviving Ryan is his parents, Martin & Sydney Todd of Monmouth, IL; one brother, Dusty Todd of Clarinda, IA; his maternal grandparents, Judith & Darrell “Beano” Boyer of Ferris, IL; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Martin & Sharon Todd; and one brother, Casey Todd.
A Gathering of Family & Friends will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2025 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials can be made to the Ryan Todd Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, is in charge of the arrangements.
