Sabra Cook, age 79 of Idalou passed away September 30, 2023. She was born October 9, 1943 and was the only child of Joe Bailey and Willie Marie (Brummett) Robinson. She married Theodore “Junior” Cook on August 4, 1961 who preceded her in death on March 11, 2023 after 61 years of marriage.
Sabra’s top priority was loving and caring for her family. Making sure there was plenty to eat meant raising chickens, gardening, canning and milking the cow twice a day. It wasn’t fancy but you never went hungry. She nurtured many during her lifetime, including her grandchildren and extended family. After caring for her young children for many years, she began her working career at Sunnymead/SunnyFresh farms in Heckville for 9 years. She then worked for Lubbock Trailers for over 20 years until her retirement. She was a very dedicated employee always concerned about the success of the business. Sabra loved animals of all kinds, doctoring and doting on many four-legged friends throughout the years.
Survivors include her daughter Penny Harkey (Mike) and sons Teddy, Johnny (Sandy) and Tommy (Margaret) along with her grandchildren Tanner (Angela) and Tyler (Carson) Cook, Kristin (Paul) Andrade, Karen Cook, Hailee (J.R.) Roberts, Sharon (Ryan) Rhodes, Mary Catherine, Jude and Gus Cook, five great grandchildren with one more on the way. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Pat Dewitt and her precious puppy, Prissy. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents.
Sabra’s family would like to express their appreciation to everyone at the Windmill Village. You loved her like she was your own family on good days and bad. We will always be so grateful.
