Safiyya Tahara Shareef, a dedicated mother and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born and raised in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Safiyya was the oldest daughter of Ahmad and Alieyyah Shareef, and one of seven children. She is survived by her siblings:
Abdur-Rahman Shareef, Khalil Shareef, Ahmad, and Glenna Shareef, Majida and Troy Washington, Zakia Shareef, and Abdullah Shareef and Sherri Shareef.
Safiyya was a hardworking and passionate individual who made a lasting impact in every role she took on. She attended Westinghouse High School, graduating in 1979. She pursued her passion for business and law through various educational achievements, including diplomas from the Sawyer School of Business and the Professional Career Development Institute, where she studied Business Secretary, Secretarial Science, Legal Transcription, and Law. She also studied Business Law at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) and Legal Secretary courses at Robert Morris University.
Over the course of her extensive career, Safiyya held numerous positions, demonstrating her dedication and strong work ethic. She served as Office Manager at Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC), where she oversaw payroll, scheduled meetings, managed administrative tasks, and organized training events.
Safiyya was well-known and cherished for her work as a bartender and manager at several well-loved establishments throughout Pittsburgh and Braddock. She worked at "The Place 2 Be", "Name of the Game", "Gandy's 30/30 Club", "Aces Deuces", and "TOO Sweet Lounge". She took pride in providing friendly and professional service, training new staff, managing inventory, and ensuring smooth operations. She was known for her welcoming smile, her sense of community, and her unwavering dedication to her patrons.
In addition to her bar and management work, Safiyya worked as a bank teller at PNC Bank Wilkinsburg, providing exceptional customer service and handling daily transactions. Earlier in her career, she also served as a cashier and display assistant at Kaufmann's Department Store.
Safiyya's passion for helping others extended beyond her professional life. She was known for her generous spirit and willingness to support those around her. She will be remembered for her dedication, warmth, and the countless lives she touched throughout her journey.
Safiyya was preceded in death by her son Charles Mark Allen. She leaves behind her beloved children: Reginald and Shannon Shareef, Kameesa Reynolds, Wilnal Reynolds, and goddaughter Shauniqua Weston, as well as Grandchildren: Wilnal Reddix, Ny'Sir Reynolds, Alexxus Reynolds, Jaida Shareef, Alainna Reynolds, Nadia Shareef, Kai'Mir Moye, Airrian Reynolds Zavion Moye, and Sophie Reynolds. Great Grandchildren: Anthony Reddix, Wilmal Reddix Jr., Ai'Launi Reddix along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.
