Sakeena Rafee'a Abdullah also known as Norma Jean and "Jeannie" was born on March 23, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Ethel Mae Alexander and Norman Carr she peacefully entered eternal rest on May 27,2025 at the age of 80.
Sakeena was educated in Cincinnati receiving her cosmetology license which she held for many years. Sakeena worked in early childhood education for over 25 years also specializing in the area for Hamilton County Protective Children. She started several businesses to include West ends Sugar Shack which was a staple in her community.
She found Islam in the late 80s actively participating in her Islamic Community and spent her life serving her Mosque and Muslim family.
Her love for life was evident through the years of service until her health declined.
Sakeena loved writing poetry, selling poetry books and gardening, Thrift store shopping along with feeding her family and community. Feeding you was her love language, she always had some chicken cooked for you.
Preceeding Sakeena in death was her infant daughter Delmeeta, her parents, and brothers Bruce Chunn,James Wesley Chunn Sr, Gregory Carr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Nafisa Monroe of North Carolina; sons, Delmontee Bennie of North Carolina, Devail Bennie, and Donta Bennie of Cincinnati, 1 Sister, Mary Crawford of North Carolina, 2 Brothers Dexter Carr and Etler Carr of Cincinnati: an aunt, Mrs Betty Baggett 9 grandchildren,18 great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family,many friends. Sakeena was loved by many she held a Special place in her heart for Abdullah (Donta Jr) MiMi, Kenziegirl and Ava Special Thanks to her Niece Rochell Carr
Her journey was full, her heart was open, and her life was rich with love.
"Don't Look Back"
Why look back When we have so much ahead.
Those things behind us are gone, lost, dead.
We must focus on tomorrow and let the past alone,
It's the present and the future that's going to take us home.
