BRANCH, Mother Sallie V - Age 90, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024, at her residence. Family hour10:30 AM Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 317 E. Hamilton Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Allen C. Overton Sr., Host Pastor, Rev. Dr. Marvin T. Smith, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the Church 10:30 AM Thursday. Mother Branch will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Wednesday, with family present for 4:00 PM-6:00 PM to receive friends.
Salle V. Dunston was born September 6, 1933, in Louisburg, North Carolina to Alice Dunston and James Harris. She was the third of five siblings.
Sallie gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Haywood Baptist Church.
She married Norman Branch, and they relocated to Flint, Michigan to pursue better opportunities at the auto factory. To this union they had 8 children.
Mother Sallie Branch was a member of Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist where she served on the Usher Board for over 45 years. In addition to this service, she was on the Mother's Board, Sunday School, Kitchen Committee, and other missionary ministries.
Mother Sallie V. Branch was an active member of the National Baptist Wolverine State and Great Lakes District as an usher and hostess. She was a longtime supporter of the Wolverine State Sisterhood.
Mother Branch loved being around family and friends. She enjoyed riding in her car going to different stores with her neighbor Linda Jones.
Mother Branch loved cooking and feeding her family and anyone else. She was known for her delicious Peach Cobbler. Her motto: "If I can help somebody as I travel along the way, then my living shall not be in vain", and one of her favorite songs was "If it had not been for the Lord on my side".
Mother Sallie V. Branch always told everyone that she really loved all her children.
Mrs. Sallie V. Branch leaves to cherish to her memory: Her five sons Bobby Dunston of Shelbyville, Kentucky; Wayne (Bennie) Branch of Bloomington, Minnesota; Norman (Helena) Branch of Grand Blanc Michigan; Samuel Branch of Flint MI; Darryl Branch of Ellenwood, GA, 2 daughters Audrey Branch of Royce City, TX; Shelby Branch of Norcross, GA, one brother Clarence Dunston of Apex, North Carolina. Her favorite sister in-law, Marie Dunston of Graham, North Carolina. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her ex-husband Norman C. Branch, son Thomas Branch, Mother Alice Dunston, father James Harris, sisters Queen Esther Hayes and Lela Bell Mcknight, grandsons Brandon Branch and Louis Williams. Special friends Linda Jones, Theresa Pringle, and Betty Caldwell. Her childhood friend Augustina Sutton.
The family would like to give thanks to her caregiver Lori Gracia. Nurses Carla, Dori, and Trevor from the Care Team, Dr. Matthew Harris from Benson & Associates from the Physicans office.
