Sallie L. Smith

Sallie Smith, 79, of Wilmette, Illinois passed away with her family by her side on October 16, 2025. Beloved wife of Ralph. Loving mother of Thomas (Lindsey) and Dave (Helen). Cherished grandmother of Axl, Hawk, Mira and Calvin. Dear sister of Mary (John) Gummersall, Nancy (John) Dore and Tom (Cindy) Lillard and sister-in-law of Jim (Nancy) Smith. Sallie will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. She was a truly remarkable woman who brought joy to everyone she touched and had the ability to see the beauty in even the smallest moments, the quiet struggles or imperfections that others might overlook. Above all she cherished her family and spent 53 years married to her best friend, Ralph. Over the years they had countless adventures, big and small, creating beautiful memories and thousands upon thousands of photos to prove it. In addition to being an amazing wife, mother and grandmother, Sallie loved spending her time volunteering with Kenilworth Union Church. She taught and tutored countless children over the years and enjoyed spending her free time in her garden. Her positive and upbeat outlook on life were contagious and her influence will be felt by all who knew her for many years to come.
