Together Again -- Sue (Ashton) Brown, age 88, of Orrville, passed away with family by her side on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at West View Healthy Living in Wooster, following a period of declining health.
Sue was born on October 14, 1935, in Carrollton, Ohio, to the late Evelyn L. (Pool) and John H. Ashton at Aultman Hospital in Canton, OH.
She was raised in Carrollton, OH, graduated from Carrollton High School with the class of 1953 and played the clarinet in band.
Sue continued her education attending Bryant College of Business Administration in Rhode Island. She belonged to the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She received her Bachelor of Science Administration Diploma in 1957.
Sue married Roger L. Brown in a small chapel in Hubbard OH on August 12, 1961.
They had three children: Shelly (Douglas) Myers, Kitty (Doug) House, and Scott A. Brown; 2 grandchildren, Dylan F. House and Devon L. House; two siblings, Peggy (John) Stratton and Nancy (Sandy) Whitman.
She was preceded in death by both her parents and her husband Roger, who passed away on April 6, 2016.
Sue opened a Ben Franklin Store in Orrville, OH in 1960. She ran the store until its closing in 1976.
She went on to work at the Orrville Public Library where she maintained the cleanliness of the facility from 1978 to 2003. After retiring from the library, she volunteered at the library repairing books.
At one point in her life, she taught tap dance and took flying lessons. Sue was a member of the Eastern Star, was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword and fill-in puzzles. Sue followed the country music scene in the '90's and attended many concerts.
Per Sue's wishes cremation will take place and there will be no services held.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ohio's Hospice LifeCare 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, OH 44691 www.lifecarehospice.org/give, whose assistance has been monumental to Sue's care.
