Sally Lee Andis Carter, a devoted and compassionate nurse, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at the age of 76, with her best friend and husband of 21 years at her side.

Born on March 9, 1949, Sally received her Diploma in Nursing in June 1972 from Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. Throughout her career, she worked as a Registered Nurse and Registered Respiratory Therapist, serving with compassion and joy. She eventually settled in the Kirbyville, TX, area, where even after reaching a suitable retirement age, Sally continued to contribute her time and expertise at local skilled nursing and hospice facilities.

Sally was known, not only for her generous spirit and unwavering commitment to healthcare, but also for her exuberant and adventurous nature. She adored driving sports cars and working on her and Leslie's dream farm they named "Cogburn Farm." Sally was mischievous and thrilled to find ways to make people laugh. A lifelong Arkansas Razorback fan, Sally truly embraced life with enthusiasm and courage.

Preceding Sally in death were her adoptive parents, Mattie Florine (nee Harper) Andis and Benjamin Franklin Andis, Jr., as well as her brother Benjamin Franklin Andis, III, and her sister Mildred Kathleen Stephenson.

She is survived by her dear husband, Leslie Carter, and his daughters, Jessica Leyendecker (Kyle) and Ashley Carter. Sally was delighted when Leslie's daughters gave her granddaughters: Jane and Emery. Though Sally never had children of her own, she doted on her nieces, Sally Leighann Heling, Kimberly Carol Neil and Christine Louise Boling. Leighann and Kimberly, along with Ashley and Jessica, will plan a wake to honor Sally at a future date.
