Sally Ann Donovan, 81, a lifelong resident of Ambler, passed away peacefully at Artman Lutheran Home on March 5, 2025, four days shy of her 82nd birthday.
She was born in Norristown, PA on March 9, 1943, to the late Lloyd and Eleanor (née Wintersteen) Williams. Her family moved to Ambler when she was five years old and she went on to graduate from Ambler High School in 1960. After high school Sally took some business courses and began her career as an administrative assistant. She worked for law firms, Univac and she retired from IMS in Blue Bell.
In April of 1967 she married Daniel Aloysius Donovan Jr. and they were married until his untimely death in 1975. They had three sons and lived in Ambler.
Sally was kind to everyone she met, an important virtue to her, which she instilled in her three sons. Her generous spirit enabled her to see the best in everyone.
She had a compassionate ear and people often confided in her.
Sally enjoyed long walks through her hometown, gardening, reading, music and dancing, crossword puzzles, traveling, and her beloved cats. She was a loving and supportive mother to her boys, a generous and caring Nana to her grandchildren and she could always be counted on by her family and friends.
Sally is survived by her three sons; Daniel, Terence (Michele), and Ryan Donovan; three grandchildren; Roman, Chaeli, and Theresa Donovan; a sister-in-law, Ann Williams; as well as additional in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Williams and a sister, Judy Brown.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Donald Kazen, at Shaeff-Myers Funeral Home located at 145 Tennis Ave, Ambler, PA 19002. Family and friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private at a later date.
