Sally Jane Otterbacher, 92, passed away peacefully in Wooster, Ohio at Life Care Hospice on September 17, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Sally was born on October 23, 1932, in Lorain, Ohio to Ernest and Jewell Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, and her sister Donna (George) Schmidt.

A 1954 graduate of Bowling Green State University, Sally was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and met her husband, Melvin, who graduated in 1952. She became a decorated and favorite teacher to hundreds of students spanning over 30 years of service to elementary education. Sally also earned a Master's degree in Education from BGSU and became a Jennings Scholar and was awarded the Dow Chemical Excellence in Teaching Award at Sidney Fenn Elementary in Medina, where she taught for most of her tenure.

In addition to education, Sally had a passion for tennis, swimming, bridge, fine food, travel, reading and especially her family and friends.

"Grandma Sally' is survived by her sons, Dean (Kathy) and Kurt (Amy); 6 grandchildren, Kelly (Shawn), Erin (Jay), Sarah, Kyle (Alisa), Kira, and Christian; and 6 great-grandchildren, Lucas, Sebastian, Alex, Elijah, Jasper, and Cora.

Sally has requested no formal services, but a celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to any of the following: Medina Co. SPCA – www.medinacountyspca.com , Life Care Hospice of Wooster – www.lifecarehospice.org , or The Greater Ohio Showmen's Association – www.mygosa.net.
