Sally J. Rettinger, age 60, of Manitowoc, passed away on Monday morning, August 4th, 2025 at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice, Sheboygan Falls, surrounded by her loving family. Sally was born on February 11, 1965 in Manitowoc, daughter of Sue Leschke and the late Francis "Sonny" Champine. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1983. It was there that she met her high school sweetheart, Jerry Rettinger. On September 25, 1987 they were married at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Sally was employed with various local businesses over the years including The Red Owl, Central Perk, Associated Bank and lastly the Piggly Wiggly. She was also a nanny for the Dunphy family and absolutely loved every moment that she got to spend with Logan and Lillie. Even now that they are grown, they still had a very special relationship with Sally. In her younger years she enjoyed camping and bowling. The pride of her life was raising her daughter Katie, who she loved dearly. In recent years, Sally enjoyed fishing, motorcycle rides with Jerry, going on casino bus trips with her mom, and her yearly girl's trip to Florida with her daughter and sisters. She was an active member of Gumby's Club Fore a Cure and volunteered for events whenever she was able. Sally enjoyed listening to music, whether it be on car rides or while she was getting ready for the day. She went on many trips with her friend Tammy to see her favorite, Kenny Chesney. Sally was always a people person and could make friends with anyone. Sally never hesitated to offer kindness and support to others and never needed anything in return. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her husband: Jerry Rettinger, Manitowoc; her daughter: Katie (Blair) Gorsuch, Cato; her mother and step-father: Sue (Ron) Leschke, Manitowoc; two sisters: Cindy Champine (Dan Brixius), Manitowoc, Amy (Adam) Blanchard, Manitowoc; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Linda (Scott) Tegelman, Manitowoc, Tom (Brenda) Rettinger, Manitowoc. She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother: Sonny (Shirley) Champine; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Wolfgang and Frances Rettinger; and one sister-in-law: Karen (Guy) Strzyzewski. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1712 Menasha Avenue, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Jonathan Huehn. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
