Sally C. Spencer, 87, of Derry, NH, died Saturday November 8, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 8, 1938, in Perham, ME, a daughter of the late Raymond and Avis (Blackstone) Connolly.
Her Mother passed when she was very young, she was raised by family and could be found checking bear traps, harvesting potatoes and living a humble life in Northern Maine. When she graduated High school, she took a job with the Navy and moved to DC, a far cry from the life she was used to. Sally met her husband and moved to CT where her first son was born. They moved back to Maine where her first daughter was born then to MA where she had her second daughter. She then moved to Derry NH and had her last child, a son and lived in the same home for 60 years till her passing. Having divorced when the children were young, she worked two jobs supporting them and seeing 3 off to college. She was a super Mom by any definition working as a claims adjuster for the Social Security Administration, as well as for Jordan Marsh which later became Macy's. She had been an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Derry.
She is survived by two sons, Steven Spencer of Derry, and Daniel Spencer of Virginia City, NV; her daughter, Shari King of Chichester, NH; nine grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and her brother, Roger Connolly of Perham, ME. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kelly Spencer, her granddaughter, Abigail and her brother John Connolly.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at 1:00pm at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 63 East Broadway in Derry. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's UMC. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry and Londonderry are assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church, St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 63 East Broadway, Derry, NH 03038 or at https://www.stlukesumcnh.org/
