Sally Vogt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson Memorial Home - Red Bank from Dec. 7 to Dec. 8, 2022.
Sally Ellen Vogt of Tinton Falls, NJ, passed away on December 3rd 2022 at the age of 73. Sally was born on March 3rd in Long Branch to her parents Sarah and Edward Johnson and grew up in Red Bank in a home built by her grandfather Matthew Power.

Sally had a very accomplished nursing career, graduating from St. Peters School of Nursing and getting her Master's Degree from Monmouth College. Her first nursing job was at New York University Hospital in NYC followed by many more including St. Peters Hospital as a Nurse Anesthetist and ending in the Mental health field at Community Care in Freehold. She loved being a nurse and it was her calling to help others.

Sally's hobbies included Cheerleading, riding her Honda motorcycle, Skiing, bowling, and of course spending the summers on her boat at the Molly Pitcher Marina where she would go crabbing and fishing all day on the Navesink. Sally loved Bruce Springsteen and was a true Jersey Girl. Her sense of humor was unmatched and her laugh contagious. Sally's friendships were something she really valued and had lifelong relationships with many of them. 4th of July or any Holiday was an excuse to party with her pals and was always surprising them with a funny gag.

Above all Sally loved her family and spending time with them. She is predeceased by her soulmate and Husband Andy Vogt who she married in the summer of 79. Together they started a family in Asbury Park and later spending the rest of her life in their home in Tinton Falls. Sally is survived by her children Andrew Vogt (Marieke) of Amsterdam, and Sharon Vogt Hamilton (Timothy) of River Plaza NJ. Being a mother was Sally's ultimate joy. She would do anything in her power to make her children happy and was the most caring mother there could be. She loved animals and her 3 dogs were like children to her. Brandy, Sako, and perhaps her favorite Finnie who would sing while Sally played the harmonica.

Sally was also an amazing sister to her 5 siblings. Barbara Twigg, Suzanne Colville, Stephen Johnson (Kathy), Ned who passed away in 2019, and Lee Teftteller (Daryl). Through them she became what many would know her as "Aunt Sally". She was the most fun Aunt one could have. She loved dearly her 12 nieces/nephews and then adored her 20 Great nieces/nephews making her truly one GREAT Aunt.

Visitation will be held at Thompson Memorial Home in Red Bank on Friday Dec 9 from 4-7. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday Dec 10 at 10 am at St James RC Church in Red Bank followed by entombment at St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Marlboro. A repast will follow.
