Sally Elizabeth Woody, 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Sally was born on May 30, 1950, to James Scott Woody and Rena Mae Stroud Woody in Fort Worth. A lifelong resident of Parker County, she was a sixth-generation Texan and the great-great-great-granddaughter of Samuel Houston Woody and Hannah Woody, among the first Anglo-American settlers of Parker County in the 1840s. Her deep roots in the community were a source of pride throughout her life.
A follower of Christ, Sally was raised in the Baptist church and carried her faith with her always.
She was a graduate of Weatherford High School, attended Weatherford College, and earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees as a single mother—an accomplishment that reflected her determination and strength. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Woman’s University and her Master’s Degree from North Texas State University. Sally dedicated her professional life to education, beginning her career with Poolville ISD and later spending many years at Springtown ISD, where she eventually retired. She was a longtime member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an organization committed to advancing educational excellence.
Sally inherited her love of travel from her mother and delighted in seeing the world. Her journeys took her across the globe, including China, Japan, Western Europe, and most of the United States. She also had a lifelong love of horses—riding as a young woman and continuing to keep horses throughout her life.
She cherished countless adventures and laughter shared with her two best friends, Teresa Vinson and Cindy Wingate. And she loved the music of The Beatles, a reminder of her younger days and her favorite car, a blue 1969 Ford Mustang.
Above all, Sally’s greatest joy was her family. She rarely missed an opportunity to watch her daughter, grandchildren, nieces and nephews perform in concerts, marching band competitions, musicals, and ballgames. Known for her wonderful sense of humor and love of life, Sally brought warmth and joy to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Scott and Rena Mae Woody; her brothers, Dwayne Woody, and Frank Woody; and other beloved family members.
Sally is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Woody Baker and husband, Brent; her grandchildren, Wilson Scott Baker and wife, Korede, John Thomas Baker, and Hannah Elizabeth Baker; and her brother, Kenneth Woody; along with many other cherished family members. Sally’s first great-grandchild, Ezra Baker, is due in February.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in White’s Chapel of Memories in Weatherford, with Dr. Jay Gross officiating. Family and friends are encouraged to wear something blue, as blue was Sally’s favorite color.
