Richard Blevins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wiley Funeral Home - Granbury on Mar. 4, 2026.
Richard Walter Blevins Jr.

October 17, 1957 – March 2, 2026

Richard Walter Blevins Jr., 68, passed away on March 2, 2026, in Arlington, Texas. Born on October 17, 1957, to Richard Blevins Sr. and Maudie "Alta" Brewer, Richard was born and raised in Weatherford, Texas. He graduated from Weatherford High School in 1976, where he enjoyed running track and built lifelong friendships.

Following high school, Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1977 to 1981, serving as a serveryor and working as a cook. After completing his military service, he went on to run his own construction company for many years. Later, he dedicated over 12 years of service to Lowe's before retiring.

On June 21, 1991, Richard married the love of his life, Gayla Dolores Harlin, in San Antonio, Texas. Together they built a life centered around love, family, and travel - often putting countless miles on the road to visit their beloved grandchildren. Richard loved cooking, took pride in being a Texan, and found great joy in hard work. He approached everything he did with dedication and determination. Most of all, he loved his wife and family deeply. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who fought bravely until the very end.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his paternal and maternal grandparents; his sister, Vickie; and his brother, Micky.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Gayla Blevins of Granbury; his daughter and son-in-law, Christy and William Morse; his son, Christopher Blevins; four grandchildren: Terry Morse (Abby), Colton Morse (Kayla), Dalton Morse (Tia), and Starr Morse (Bryce); and six great-grandchildren: Arabella, Madison, Lavy, Montana, Briggs, and Avery. He also leaves behind extended family and many friends who will miss him dearly.

Richard will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his unwavering determination, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy of perseverance and devotion will live on in all who knew him.

A visitation celebrating Richard's life will take place on Monday, March 9th, from 12 pm to 1 pm at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, Texas.

Burial services will be private.
