Cory Crump Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wiley Funeral Home - Granbury on Mar. 4, 2026.
With a profound sadness, we share that Cory "Grumpy" Crump, 40, of Granbury, TX passed away February 27, 2026 in Fort Worth, Texas. Grumpy was an amazingly loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, extremely talented artist, and most of all, a great friend to anyone who was lucky enough to have him in their life. Beautiful spirits like this don't come around often and his absence creates a void that can never be repaired.

Cory was born on November 20, 1985 to Kenda McPherson and the late Lelon "Bud" Crump, in Lubbock, TX. In his youth, he made friends wherever he went-- a theme that would continue for the rest of his life. He enlisted in the Army from 2004-2009, where he did 2 tours in the Middle East. He graduated from Tarleton State University in 2015 with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts where he dabbled and excelled in everything from painting to jewelry making. In 2009, he was blessed with his first son, Noah- and in 2015, Lucas. After graduating from Tarleton, he became a tattoo artist where he continued to make countless friends and inspire folks with his talent. We carry Cory in our hearts and in the amazing artwork he gave to us.

He is preceded in death by his father, his step-father David McPherson, his grandparents Jennie Pair, and Bill and Fayma Crump, and his niece Lexi SoRelle.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Cristy Crump, and his sons, Noah and Lucas of Granbury; his mother, Kenda McPherson of Junction, TX; his sisters Kellye SoRelle of Junction, TX, and Krista Scott and husband Geoff of Andrews, TX. A brother, Jason McPherson and wife, Brittney of Seminole, TX; his aunt Janis Henderson of Lubbock, TX; his uncle's Brian Smith and wife Krista of Slocum, Alabama and John and Mary of Vancouver, WA; his brother in law, Greg May of Granbury, TX; several nieces, nephews, cousins-- and countless friends who became just as close as family over the years.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Thursday, March 5, 2026 at the Langdon Center, 308 E. Bridge St., Granbury, Texas beginning at 2:00 pm.
