Salme E. Piirsoo of Highland Falls passed away at her home on September 6, 2025. She was 82 years old. Daughter of the late Anna (Kiimalainen) and Juho Heikki Leskinen, she was born in Varpaisjärvi, Finland, on May 21, 1943.
Salme dedicated herself to her family and her home. She was an avid gardener, a skilled cook, a wonderful baker of Finnish treats and breads, and creative in knitting, sewing, and crafts.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted children: son Altti K. of Highland Falls, NY, and daughter Tiina E. of Culver City, CA.
In addition to her parents, Salme was predeceased by her beloved husband.
There will be no services.
Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, NY.
