Salvatore Lombardo, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, passed away on October 3, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on February 28, 1949, in Solarino, Sicily, Italy, Salvatore's life was a remarkable tapestry of love, hard work, and devotion.
For over 60 years, Salvatore dedicated himself to the roofing trade, beginning his journey as a young man alongside his grandfather. As a proud third-generation owner, he took great joy in inspiring a fourth generation within his family. Salvatore was not only the hardest worker you could ever meet but also a laid-back gentleman who always preferred to remain in the background, ever ready to lend a helping hand without hesitation. He was known to be there for his family, never saying no when they needed assistance or support.
His love extended beyond the abilities of his hands; Salvatore found solace in the simple joys of life, whether it was creating homemade wine, tending to his cherished fig trees, or simply enjoying time in his backyard. His fondness for these personal passions showcased his appreciation for the beauty of nature and the comfort of home.
A man who valued service, Salvatore proudly served his country as a helicopter mechanic in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His commitment to his nation was but one reflection of his deeper character—a man who put others first, always ready to support friends and family alike.
Salvatore leaves behind his children, Donia Lombardo and Tony Lombardo (Cheryl), and his siblings, Josephine Vittorioso, Carmen Lombardo, Maria Gilberti, and Paola Ciaravino. He adored his grandchildren: Tatiana Pardo, Erick Pardo, Corina Ritter, Kevan Pardo, Salvatore Lombardo, Joseph Lombardo, Alina Stalker and Logan Stalker as well as five cherished great-grandchildren. His companion, Penni Mirti, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will also remember him with warmth and fondness.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Donna (Marinella) Lombardo, and his caring parents, Giuseppe and Santa Lombardo. Their memories undoubtedly inspired and guided Salvatore throughout his life and will continue to do so within his beloved family.
A Mass in his honor will be held at 10am on October 8, 2025, at Our Lady Of The Magnificat RC Church in Kinnelon, NJ. As we gather to celebrate the life of Salvatore Lombardo, we are reminded of the profound impact he had on everyone around him and the love he shared so selflessly throughout his life. His legacy of kindness, strength, and dedication will forever resonate within the hearts of those who knew him.
