Dr. Salvatore J. Mascari

Salvatore J Mascari, age 90, of North Hills passed on November 2nd, 2025. Loving father of Natalie (John) Bauer, Sal (Michele) Mascari, and Lisa Mascari; Grandfather of Ashley, Brandon, Rachel, Courtney, Chelsea, and Austin; Great-grandfather of three great grandchildren; brother of Mary Ann Nardina and the late Robert Mascari.

Sal spent his entire adult life in church ministry (Teacher, Director of Religious Education, and Pastoral Associate). Alongside this, he served in hospital ministry for five years at Allegheny General Hospital and three years at Kane. Dr. Mascari completed his undergraduate studies at La Roche College. He continued his education, receiving his Masters Degree in Theology from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 1975, his second Masters degree in Formative Spirituality from Duquesne University in 1983, and later earned his Doctor of Ministry Degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. In 1989 he joined the preaching staff at St. Paul of the Cross Retreat Center. He also completed 36 credits towards a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology at Duquesne University. His book, titled, "Jesus said, Love one another" published in 2009. Sal enjoyed visiting Penn State, cooking, and traveling.

A small family viewing and memorial service will be held at Schellhaas Funeral Home followed by a burial at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
