SAM ALTMAN

Sam Altman passed away unexpectedly on April 4, 2023 at his home in Ocala, Florida. He was born on December 17, 1936 in New York, Kings County, New York to Morris and Anna (Samuels) Altman. Sam lived and worked for many years in the Los Angeles area of California. When he retired from Hughes Aircraft Co. after 30 years, he moved to Ocala, Florida. On August 10, 2012 he married Carmon McManigell in Ocala, Florida. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling and adventure. He will be remembered for his joyful spirit, friendliness, and his fierce allegiance to his family and friends. He is remembered by his nieces and nephews for his love of animals and quirky nature.
Sam was predeceased by his parents, by his sisters (Yetta, Mary, Mollie, and Sylvia), and by his nephew Andrew Braverman. He is survived by his wife, Carmon, by his nieces and nephews (Mark, David, and Roseanne Braverman; Marsha, Linda, and Anne Gerber; Naomi, Judy, and Alan Leventhal; Robert and Michelle Morrow), and by his stepchildren (Robert, Lesa, Nina, Rose, Glenna), and by his step-grandchildren (David, Amy, Morgan, Holly and Clay). Private burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Ocala, Florida. Memorial donations may be made to Temple Beth Shalom (6140 SW 78th Avenue Road; Ocala, FL 34474). Heinz Funeral Home, in Inverness, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
