Sam Ghorley, age 78, of Ball Ground passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Northside Cherokee Hospital.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Wright and Rev. Dean Ghorley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sosebee Funeral Home on Monday, December 11th from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, December 12th from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Wednesday prior to the service from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Sam served in the U.S. Army, he was a Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart recipient. Sam was a member and deacon at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and a retired mail carrier. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Janice Ghorley; parents, Rev. Ben and Dellar Ghorley; and brother, H.A. Ghorley; survivors include daughter, Angela Harlow (Chris); son, Tyler Ghorley (Shaina); grandchildren, Emma Harlow, Tate Harlow, Jaden Ghorley and Ryder Ghorley; sister, Magdalene Tippens; brother, Donald Ghorley; sister-in-law, Sandra Ghorley; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Tippens, Darren Ghorley, Gary Johnson, Tate Harlow, Ryder Ghorley and Joey Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Teddy Chadwick and Eddie Ghorley.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 136 Jack Ghorley Ln, Canton, GA 30114.
