Samuel C. Oxenreider, age 67 of Cedartown, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024, at his residence. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, he was the son of the late Marjorie Marie Oxenreider and the late Samuel A. Oxenreider. In addition to his parents, Sam is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Brannon Oxenreider who passed away June 9, 2024, and his son, Kristopher Oxenreider.
After graduating high school, Sam enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed at several bases stateside and in Germany. For many years, he was a machinist at his family's business, Southeastern Rubber Company in Felton. Known as a "gentleman farmer," Sam enjoyed working with his cows and bush hogging. He also had a passion for coin collecting.
Survivors include his sons, Aaron Oxenreider, George (Bridget) Oxenreider, and Sam Oxenreider; his daughter, Denise Watkins; and his grandchildren: Jennifer Brown, Ethan Johnson, Colton Holtzclaw, Andon Oxenreider, Kaelyn Oxenreider, Camden Oxenreider, Ellisa Oxenreider, Kaden Oxenreider, Levi Oxenreider, Jordan Oxenreider, Dillon Oxenreider, and Jake Oxenreider. Also surviving are his sisters, Kelley Cramer, Darcy Morris, and Ava Smith; his brothers, George Oxenreider, Sr, Joe Oxenreider, Mike Oxenreider, and Mark Oxenreider; 2 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews and other family members.
Funeral services for Sam Oxenreider will be conducted Sunday, July 7, 2024, from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Brannon-Perryman Cemetery in Buchanan.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday.
