Publish in a newspaper

Sammy L. Ridener, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on June 18, 1953, in Corbin, Kentucky, Sam spent much of his life dedicated to his family, his work, and his community. Residing in Austin, Indiana, he was a laborer, proudly serving the construction industry with Force Construction until his retirement.

Sam's commitment to his community extended beyond his work. He was a valued member of the Sons of the Legion at Post 234, the Moose Lodge, and the VFW Auxiliary, demonstrating his dedication to service and camaraderie. A proud member of the Laborers Union, he embraced the spirit of hard work and community building.

Sam was a man of simple pleasures. He found joy in fishing, tending to his yard and garden, and attending car shows, where he delighted in sharing stories and laughter with friends and family. Above all, Sam cherished his time spent with his loved ones, demonstrating daily acts of kindness and love.

He leaves behind his devoted wife Linda Ridener, his step-son, Greg Richey, his brother Don Ridener, his daughter Carol Jones and two grandchildren, who will carry forth his memory in their hearts.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Proffitt Ridener, his brothers, Harold Ridener and Jim Ridener and his sister, Sue Case.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sam's life at Collins Funeral Home on Thursday, September 4, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, where all can come together to honor the legacy of a gentle soul who touched so many lives.

Sam will be laid to rest at Scottsburg Cemetery, but the impact of his kindness, dedication, and love will forever linger in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be missed dearly but remembered fondly.

Memorial donations may be given in Sam's memory to the Sons of the Legion, Post 234 or Amedisys Hospice. Please share memories and condolences at www.collinsfuneralhome.net. Collins Funeral Home of Scottburg are entrusted with the services.
