David Lee Culley, 79, of Austin, Indiana, entered his eternal rest on Saturday, August 31, 2025, at his home.

He was born on September 5, 1945, to the late Herschal L. Culley and Lola M. (VonTress) Culley. On August 20, 1966, David married his beloved wife, Edith Yvonne (Byrd) Culley, in Kings Mills, Ohio, and together they shared 59 years of marriage filled with faith, family, and love.

David graduated from Kings Mills High School in Kings Mills, OH, and went on to further his education at Tennessee Temple University and Morehead State. Answering his lifelong call to ministry, David served as a full-time pastor for more than 45 years. He was the Senior Pastor at Austin First Baptist Church from 1988 until 2001, and then faithfully led Scaffold Lick Baptist Church from 2001 until 2024. Alongside his ministry, he also served as a Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspector for the Indiana State Police from 2001 until 2010.

A man of many talents, David enjoyed working with stained glass, woodworking, and in his younger years, photography. He and Yvonne loved to travel together, and his dream of visiting Alaska came true when they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary there. Those who knew him will remember his dedication to serving others, and his unwavering devotion to his family and faith.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne; their children, Joy (Ken) Klotzsche of Danville, IN, Scott (Deborah) Culley of Scottsburg, IN, Jeff (Nicole) Culley of Rushville, IN, and Duane (Jenifer) Culley of Medora, IN; 10 grandchildren, Hannah (Luke) Wyatt, Payton Klotzsche, Trey (Abby Johanningsmeier) Culley, Bryce Culley, Brynley Culley, Sydney Marshall, Brooke Marshall, Nicholas Culley, Jack Culley, and Jayden Culley; and one great-grandchild, Graham Wyatt.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
