Stephen Culley Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 13, 2025.
Stephen Culley, of Collinsville, Oklahoma, lived a life defined by courage, dedication, and love. He served his country with honor in the United States Air Force as a rescue paratrooper in the Vietnam War. His bravery later extended into his career and his favorite job of his life as a Tulsa County Deputy Sheriff, where he was awarded the Valor Under Gunfire commendation for his heroism in the March 2012, Tulsa Courthouse Shooting.

For over 25 years, Stephen worked in the Rent-A-Car industry, where his kindness, quick wit, and strong work ethic left an impression on colleagues and customers alike. His life's work was more than careers and accomplishments - it was the love he he poured into the people and animals who shared his world.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, C.W. "Bill" and Corine Culley; his brother Scott Culley; and his sister Shelly Culley.

He leaves behind his beloved husband of over 30 years, Gary Cornett, whose steadfast love was the foundation of Stephen's life. He is also survived by his brother, Stan Culley; numerous nieces and nephews; and his cherished constant companion/pet Kiedis.

Faith was an anchor for Stephen as he was a devoted member of Saint Jerome Parish and served multiple terms on the Parish Vestry, led the Wednesday evening rosary, and was always ready to lend a hand and lead with a generous spirit. Outside of the Church, his heart belonged to animals, and was known for his gentle care and unwavering devotion to their well-being.

Stephen's legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched through his service, his laughter, and his unshakable love for those he held dear.
