Sam was predeceased by his parents, his infant brother Carl Thomas Singleton, his sister Wanda Fay Himes, and his Brother-in-law Nelson Roberts. He is lovingly remembered by his sister Paulette Roberts, his nieces and nephews, April Whitt (Eugene), Roman Johnson (Lisa), Scottie Johnson, Crystal Parret (Roger), Tracy Collins (James), Shellie Roberts (Doug), and Stephanie Anglin (Roger), all of whom cherished his warmth and generosity.
Known for his gentle spirit and kind heart, Sam had a special bond with animals. His career as a newspaper deliverer for the Richmond Register was marked not only by his dedication to his work but also by his daily acts of kindness, ensuring that every stray animal he encountered on his delivery routes was well-fed and cared for. It was a common sight to see Sam with pockets full of treats and his vehicle stocked with dog and cat food, ready to offer a meal to a furry friend in need.
