Mr. Sam D. Williford, 90, resident of High Point, was called home on August 27, 2025.

Sam was born July 30, 1935, in Raleigh, a son to the late Sam A. and Mandy Fowler Williford. In 1958, he married the former Betty Jane Matthews who preceded him in death in 2013. He retired in 1990 from the Kmart Corporation after 26 years in management. His career with Kmart began in Raleigh before transitioning to Wilmington, Rocky Mount, Philadelphia PA, Columbia SC, Alexandria LA, and finally High Point where he settled. Following retirement, he began a lawncare service from which he retired on December 31, 2014, at age 79. His hobbies were working and helping "Boss #1", Betty, with her flowers and vegetable gardens.

Surviving are three sons, Ken Williford (April) of Winston-Salem, Dan Williford (Jane) of Franklinton, and James Williford (Carol) of Greensboro; six grandchildren, Matthew, Christian, Dillon, Casey, Kendall, and Aydan; and two step grandchildren, Anthony and William Jones. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Frank Williford and his half-sister, Annie Fowler.

Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. A private family crypt side service will be held at Floral Garden Park Mausoleum later that day. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont at 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262, in honor of the loving care they provided to his wife, Betty, during her illness.
