Samantha Sue Russell passed away on January 6, 2024, after an 18-month, hard-fought battle with a rare cancer. Sam was only 37 years old (born July 16, 1986). Her family and wide-circle of friends are deeply saddened by her death.

Sam is survived by her loving and devoted husband Richard and her precious son Eddie. Sam will also be forever remembered by Carol and Tim McCourt, mother and father; Miranda McCourt, sister; Patrick Russell, brother-in-law, Joey Russell, brother-in-law; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, second-cousins, etc. Sam was preceded in death by Richard’s parents, Cheryl and Jim Russell.

Samantha was a fun-spirited, lover-of-life, who was always up for an adventure. She had many passions, interests and hobbies throughout her life that included playing competitive softball; crafting and selling her wares; camping with her awesome outdoor kitchen set-up where she would dress up and trick out her tent and campsite; planting, growing and propagating houseplants; and on and on. Sam loved her job as a Contracts Manager at ALTEN Technology. She loved long baths and soaks in her hot tub; traveling (especially to the beach); hosting and attending parties, BBQs, celebrations; her three big dogs; cooking and trying new recipes; holidays and family get-togethers; and matching family pajamas for Christmas Eve. Most of all, Sam loved being a wife and mother.  She cared deeply for her little family unit—planning activities for them, cooking meals for them, cheering Eddie on at soccer games, and just hanging out in their new home in Milliken that she was so proud of.

Sam was also a curly-headed spit-fire who lived life at full speed. She could be strong-willed and stubborn, and once she made her mind up about something, there was no stopping her. But these traits were part of who Sam was, and her strength undoubtedly helped her in her hard-fought cancer battle – she never stopped trying and she never gave up hope.

Samantha was a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile was so bright it would light up a room. She cared deeply for the people around her. She was kind and passionate. She made an impact on many lives. She will be forever missed.

Family and friends can pay respects and say goodbye (for now) on Tuesday, January 16, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Horan & McConaty, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229.
