Samir George Ghattas

Our beloved father, Samir George Ghattas, passed away October 16th in Glendora, California at the age of 74.
He was born June 5th, 1951 in Aleppo, Syria to Laurice and George Ghattas. After spending time in the Gulf working as a refinery engineer, he made his way to the United States.
In the late 1970s, he met and fell in love with Marie Hull in Los Angeles; they eventually made their way to Visalia, California. There, they built a beautiful life with a full home and many adventures, before she lost her battle to cancer in 2008.
After several years, he relocated back to Southern California, where he would meet and marry Josephine Mourad in 2013.
Food was his love language; from cooking at his restaurant, to sharing a meal with loved ones, or exchanging photos of nightly dinners with his daughter.
Outside of his family, he was loyal to Mercedes Benz and loved driving on what he frequently reminded everyone was a vastly superior suspension system. There has never been anyone quite like him, and there won't be again. His impact is indelible and the many lessons he taught us serve as his legacy.
Samir is preceded in death by his father and mother, George and Laurice Ghattas; his wife, Marie Ghattas; his brother, Ghassan Ghattas; and his nephew, Michael Alzagatiti.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine; daughters, Jennifer Uwanawich and Samantha Ghattas (Keith); grandchildren Brayden Herrera and Anaya Guitron; sister, Aida Thomas (Elias); and dearly loved nieces and nephews.
