Milford – Samira Saad, beloved matriarch and beacon of love, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2024, at her home in Milford surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 6, 1933, in Zahle, Lebanon, Samira's journey of 90 years was marked by unwavering strength, a deep love for her family, and an enduring spirit of resilience.
The daughter of the late Naim and Marguerite (Trad) Jdey, Samira grew up in the warmth of a close-knit family in Lebanon, alongside her late siblings Salim, Nadia, and George Jdey. Her life was a testament to courage and sacrifice, as she made the arduous decision to leave war-torn Lebanon in 1981 to provide a safer, more prosperous life for her children. The transition to a new country was challenging, but Samira's fortitude never wavered.
In Milford, Samira created a loving home for her family. She was the cherished wife of the late Sami Saad, and together they nurtured a family that would be her greatest legacy. Samira is survived by her devoted sons Dani and his wife Georgina Saad, Fred and his wife Maria Saad, both of Milford, and lovingly remembered by her late son Ghassan Saad. Her daughter-in-law Bouthaina (Baza) Saad holds dear the memories they shared.
A gifted seamstress, Samira found joy in the art of sewing. Her home was filled with the laughter of her grandchildren, Sami, Tony, Elyssar and her husband Jacey, Rimannu and his wife Laila, Ramy, Rema, and Gus, and her great-grandsons Jackson and Matthew, all of whom she adored. Samira's pride in her grandchildren's accomplishments knew no bounds, and she relished every opportunity to share their successes with anyone who would listen.
Samira's dedication to her family was unparalleled. As a mother and grandmother, she was the epitome of selflessness, always placing the needs of her children and grandchildren above her own. Her love was unconditional and evenly bestowed upon each member of her family, a love that will continue to guide and comfort them in the days to come.
Her caretaker, Ghada Mansour, became an extension of the family, providing compassionate care and companionship during Samira's later years. The bond they formed was one of mutual respect and affection, and the family extends heartfelt gratitude for her unwavering support.
Samira's life was one of remarkable endurance and profound generosity. She was a woman who lived with purpose, who faced adversity with grace, and who loved with her whole heart. Her memory will be cherished and honored by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
