Mr. Sammy “Sam” Dennis Boyer, 71, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Born in Forsyth County, Sam was the son of the late John C. Boyer and Sarah Miller Boyer. A true jack of all trades, there was very little Sam could not fix with his hands. He was a hard worker who loved being outdoors, whether farming, raising cattle and horses, tending to his garden, or spending time hunting.
He found joy in a simple life rooted in work, nature, and family. Sam dedicated 34 years of his life working for Schlitz/Stroh’s Brewery, where he maintained the machinery, that perfectly reflected his strong work ethic.
For 43 years, Sam shared a devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Linda. Together they created countless memories, many of them spent fishing side by side. Sam was known for his good sense of humor, his personality, and his habit of always speaking his mind. He also had a deep love for animals and cared for many pets throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in passing by his sister, Rebecca “Becky” Jones.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Boyer; two sons, William T. Boyer (Mandie) and Robert L. Boyer; two brothers, David H. Boyer and Wesley Boyer; one sister, Loretta Boyer Long (Chester); several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family members.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2:00pm ~ 4:00pm on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Randy Murdock speaking.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Boys Town Orphanage, PO Box 8000, Boys Town, NE 68010, or to a Disabled Veterans organization of the donors choice.
Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the Boyer family.
