Sammy Broadway Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home - Paris on Mar. 16, 2026.
Sammy Charles Broadway passed away the evening of Friday, March 13, 2026.

A memorial service honoring his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home in Paris, Texas, officiated by Brother Tracy Williams and Brother DJ Harris.

Sammy was born on January 13, 1946, in Clarksville, Texas. He was raised in Detroit, Texas, where he attended Detroit ISD. At just 19 years old, on November 17, 1965, Sammy was drafted into the United States Army. He courageously served two tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division and was honorably discharged following his service to his country. After returning home from the war, Sammy made his home in Grand Prairie, Texas, where he met the love of his life, his wife, Trudy. In 1982, the couple returned to Detroit, Texas, where they built their life together and remained ever since. Sammy had a deep love for the outdoors and treasured the time he spent camping, fishing along quiet creek banks, and hunting. Many of his favorite memories were made sharing time with family at deer camp and lake. He was a proud member of the Elks Lodge and later rekindled his passion for classic cars, becoming a member of the American Falcon Club.

Sammy is survived by his beloved wife, Trudy Broadway; his brother, James "Bobby" Robert Broadway; his daughter, Shellie Stephens; his grandchildren, Heather Price and Tyler Price; and his great-grandchildren, McKynzie Franks, Madilynn Spoonemore, Amelia Cashion, Nolan Cashion, and Kash Price.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edmon Broadway; his mother, Dorothy Shelton Broadway; his brother, Jerry Broadway; and his nephew, Sammy Dale Broadway.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sammy's memory to the Red River Valley Veterans Memorial or the Parkinson's Foundation.
