Celebrating the Life of Sammy Lee Cooper

February 22nd, 1950 – February 22nd, 2026

Sammy Lee Cooper, known to many as Sam, dedicated his life to lifting others with humor, love, and steady compassion. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, Florida, on his 76th birthday.

Born in Albany, Kentucky, Sam grew up valuing close ties and simple acts of care. Those lessons shaped a life marked by kindness and an easy willingness to help whenever he could.

Family remained his proudest achievement. He shared life with his wife Ramona D Cooper, celebrated each milestone with daughters Jamie and Sherri, and beamed at every story from grandchildren Zachary, Kelly-Zena, and Alec as well as his great grandchildren, Brantley and Abel.

Sam's love of wrestling became a fun talking point that connected generations. Whether recalling memorable matches or sharing quick jokes, he showed that joy multiplies when it is passed along.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona; daughters, Jamie (James), Sherri (Benn); grandchildren, Zachary, Kelly-Zena (Tyler); and Alec; great-grandchildren, Brantley and Abel; siblings, Ann, Jannie, and Donald; and many loving nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents James Cooper and Odie Mae Cooper, by his granddaughter Victoria and siblings, Franklin, James, Jesse and Bessie.

Sam leaves a clear legacy of love, laughter and compassion. As friends and family remember him, they continue the caring spirit he modeled every day.
