Sammy Glen Cutler, a cherished soul born on January 27, 1956, in the vibrant heart of Ogden, Utah, departed this world on March 22, 2025, surrounded by the tranquility of home and his amazing family. A heavyweight in the realm of heavy equipment operation, Sammy was lovingly dubbed an “earth surgeon,” known for his unwavering commitment to the preservation and restoration of the Ogden River. Through his tireless efforts in restoring the water table, he left an indelible mark on his community that will continue to flow for generations to come.
Educated at Clearfield High School, Sammy embodied a spirit that was as lively as the tasks he undertook. He approached life with a sparkling humor that was nothing short of contagious—his laughter filled rooms, and his wit made every gathering a delightful affair. A devoted family man, he dedicated his life to ensuring that those around him were never in need of joy; he was a beacon of warmth amid the mundane, always bringing smiles with his spirited jokes.
His interests encompassed the great outdoors, where memories were crafted under the canopy of trees while camping and fishing with his family. As a devoted Packers fan, he wore his green and gold with pride, engaging in friendly banter over the joys of football with family and friends. Whether resting under the apple tree or enjoying time spent in the bungalow, he created an atmosphere of love and laughter that enveloped all who entered his domain.
Sammy's heart overflowed with affection not only for his family but also for the creatures that shared the earth with him. He was particularly proud of his efforts in rescuing two kittens, Buster and Coonie, with the scoop of his machinery, reflecting a soft spot for animals—a testament to his compassionate spirit. His love extended even to the feathered friends he nurtured, feeding birds peanuts, which they eagerly returned for more, a charming testimony to his gentle nature.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy Jean; and their sons, Brian, Steven, and David; daughters, Heidi, Kammie, and Cherie; along with 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, who will forever carry a piece of his vibrant legacy. Sammy's kinship also flows through his brothers Dave, Rex, and Kevin; and sisters, Lynn, Kathy, and Colleen, whose lives have been touched by his remarkable journey.
In stark contrast, the shadows of loss linger in the memories of those who have passed before him. He is greeted by the loving embrace of his daughter, Brandee; parents, Deran and Marva; brothers, Steve and Sunny; sister, Sharon; niece Nikola; and mother-in-law, Bernice Marshall; brothers-in-law, Steve Carrol, Bill Corbin, and Raymond Marshall. Together, they create a constellation that undoubtedly guides him in the hereafter.
As we gather to celebrate the extraordinary life of Sammy Glen Cutler, we honor a man who was more than just a husband, father, and friend; he was a force of nature, a healer of earth, and a lover of life. His legacy, carved into the very landscape he cherished, will resonate through the laughter of his family and the whisper of the Ogden River that will forever ebb and flow, echoing stories of a life well-lived.
