Sammy Ray Hall, 80, of Dillsboro, passed away on July 9, 2025, at Mission Hospital, after a period of declining health.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mildred Jacobs Hall, sister Emmalou, and brother Tommy.
Sam is survived by his sister, Donna Hall Wilson, sister in law, Betty Hall, four nephews, Robbie, Chris, Gary, and Tony, and two nieces, Susan and Tawanna.
Sam loved his morning walks with his friends, and joining them for a meal at Granny’s Kitchen. His greatest hobby was following Smoky Mountain and Carolina Tarheel sports. Sam could always be found on Friday nights, walking the sidelines at a Smoky Mountain football game.
Donna would like to extend a special thank you to Cindy Robertson and Linda Cunningham, for their countless trips to Asheville to visit Sam.
The family will receive friends at Appalachain Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 on Sunday, July 13th. A graveside service will follow at Parris Cemetery in Sylva, NC. Rev. Eddie Stillwell will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Parris Cemetery Fund, C/O Jill Tarr, PO Box 553, Dillsboro, NC.
