Sammy Jim, a beloved figure in the Pueblo Pintado community, passed away on September 13, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on February 16, 1944, Sammy dedicated his life to serving others as the Vice President and Coordinator for Pueblo Pintado, where he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around him.
Throughout his career, Sammy was not only a leader but also a friend to many, embodying the spirit of community engagement and support. His commitment to public service was matched only by his passion for cattle ranching, a pursuit he cherished deeply and which mirrored his dedication to family and tradition.
Sammy is mourned by his loving wife, Rosita Jim, and their children: Dewayne LaMotte, Fabian LaMotte, Renita Largo, and Lawrence LaMotte. Together, they will always remember him as a compassionate family man who brought warmth and laughter into their lives. He is also survived by friends and extended family who were touched by his character and kindness.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Harry Jim Sr., who played a significant role in shaping the values that Sammy carried throughout his life.
A memorial service in honor of Sammy Jim will be held on October 2, 2025, at Mt. Taylor Funerals & Cremations / Compassion Mortuary in Grants, New Mexico, beginning at 10:00 AM and concluding at 11:30 AM.
