Samra Mims Obituary
Raised in Elizabethown, she represented E'town in the Ms. Kentucky pageant, was a junior champion of the ECC Swingding and Salutatorian of Elizabethtown Catholic High School.
Samra moved to Chattanooga with her husband, Dow Mims Jr., in 1972.
She is survived by her two children, Meg and Andy; her six cousins, Mary Elizabeth Fowler, Jan Benton and Sally Byrd, all of Lexington, Kim Hamilton Angilletta of Fort Collins, Colorado, Ken Hutchison of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Tony McAndrew of London, United Kingdom, along with their beloved families; and of course her grandson, Sam, whom she kept often while she was able, and taught to pray.
Please honor her by joining her family by participating in any or all of the following opportunities with us if you are able, gifts in memoriam to charities you support or in whatever capacity you prefer.
There will be a traditional Irish Wake at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at the Our Lady of the Mount Parish Hall including a short prayer vigil at 4 p.m. and Irish music, light hors d'ouvres and refreshments to persist later into the evening. All are encouraged to bring funny stories about Samra to share casually and invited to pay their respects at any point that evening or at Saturday's funeral Mass.
Samra's funeral Mass is at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church, 1227 Scenic Highway on Lookout Mountain.
Funeral arrangements are being managed by Lane Funeral Home-Hixson and Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church.

Thank you Judy! I remember your sweet mom Alice. Big hugs. She was a dear friend to my mom for many years. Love to you and your family. Glad they were able to visit !

I am saddened to read of Samra's passing. She was a close friend of my sister,
Alice Senior. They spoke often on the phone and Samra's son drove her to Louisville to visit with Alice in her home. They shared many happy memories when they talked. Alice passed away on January 21, 2023. She would often inquire about Samra and pray that she was doing well.
I remember going to Samra's home in E'town with Alice and swimming in the pool at her house when I was in high school. Samra was a beautiful woman, and she also had great compassion for others. She took care of her mother at her home in Tennessee until Mrs. Hicks passed away. Samra was supportive of Alice after Alice's husband passed away in 2003.
They were faithful friends to each other. My condolences to Samra's son and daughter and her grandchild. I will remember all in my prayers.
