Mr. Samuel Ernest "Sam" Adams

Samuel Adams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Graniteville on Dec. 11, 2025.
Mr. Samuel Ernest Adams, of Warrenville, SC, entered into rest peacefully in the comfort of his home following a brief illness ten days following his 85th birthday.
Born in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, the son of the late Ernest and Freida Wieshaupt Adams, he had called Aiken County, SC, home for the last thirty-five years. Sam answered his country's call and proudly served in the United States Army. He felt it was his duty and never boasted, bragged, or expected recognition.
Sam was a man who was taught the value of a dollar at an early age and never expected a "hand out". He believed that hard work paid off. Prior to calling Aiken County, SC, home he was a resident of Harvard, IL, where he owned and operated Adams Carpet, once he relocated, he continued in the carpet and vinyl business and began to dabble in rental properties. Rarely did he call on others to help with projects, he did most himself.
Sam was a man who took pride in his appearance and rarely left the house impeccably dressed.
Sam believed in taking care of his family and made sure that they never went hungry or without. He enjoyed maintaining his yard, dancing, listening to music and could often be found watching his beloved Cubs, Bears and Braves.
However, he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. Sam never met a stranger and instantly made friends.
He will be forever loved, missed and fond memories will remain always in the hearts of his children, Larry (the late Charlene "Char") Coleman, Leann (Neil Ramon) Adams, Amy (Derrick Redd) Adams and Sandra "Sandy" Huntington, Heath (Erin) Williams siblings, Ann (Darrell) Edens, Daisy (Jim) Synowiec, Derald (Frankie) Adams, former wife and beloved friend, Lorraine Adams, grandchildren, Ryan (Shannon) Dayton, Derrick (Ali) Coleman, Ashley (Micheal) Lee, the late Alec Coleman, Brittany (Frankie) Lawrence, Kristy (Krys) Ramos, Cameron (Macie) Williams, Logan Mabrey (AJ Williams), Kaidyn Mabrey (Dylan Cannady), Mallory (Chris) McCauley, Malone (Austin) Heald, Zander (Averie Abellan) Huntington, Jaden Staubitz, Channing Williams, Kaden (Macy) Wood, Kinsley Newsome, Tucker Newsome, great-grandchildren,Aaron Dayton, Tanner Dayton, Boston Lee, Magnolia Lee, Easton Williams, Delaney Fields, Landon Horton, Brayden Lawrence, Corbin Lawrence, Sophia Ramos, Aidyn Williams, Alex Williams, Zayne Huntington and Nellie Jo McCauley.
Also, preceding Sam in death was his daughter, Charlene Coleman, grandson, Alec Coleman and siblings, Floyd (Lorraine) Adams, Russell Adams, Chet (Marie) Adams, Bernie Adams, Walter Adams, Edith (Smokey) Koerner, Marie (Donald) Hanson, Dorothy Weidenhoft, Violet (Turk) Johnson, Cecilia (Al) Dottman, Donna Daniels.
Sam had requested that no formal service be held. In honoring his wishes no formal service will be held. However, friends will be greeted by the family on Saturday, evening, December 13, 2025, from 6 until 7:30 at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC.

Will always have fond memories of Sam . I worked for him at Adams Carpet. I always said he could talk more than me . For some odd reason when he was upset with someone he would call them a pot licker.Never knew where he got that !
