A memorial visitation for Samuel Wade Beavers, 77, of Nacogdoches will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Laird Funeral Home.
Mr. Beavers passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 in Lufkin, Texas. He was born in Nacogdoches on January 14, 1948 to Henry and Helen Beavers.
Samuel Wade Beavers was raised in Nacogdoches County, where he called home. His brothers and sister were a very important part of his life, as were his nieces and nephews. Attaining the rank of LCPL, he honorably served our country as a proud U.S. Marine during the Vietnam War as a Rifleman and on the USS Oklahoma City.
Samuel, or Sammy as many knew him, had a profound love of motorcycles. If you ever met him, you knew this. There was absolutely no doubt how much he loved riding. He spent many hours cleaning and polishing his Harley because he wanted it to always be pristine. In typical Sammy fashion, he would take the bike completely apart to work on it or clean in the tiniest of areas that are not easily accessible or seen. He was familiar with every inch of his Harley. Every chance he had, he was riding. The serenity of being on the open road gave him such a feeling of peace. He treasured nothing more than participating in the numerous rides around our area and if it was dedicated to some sort of charity, that made it even more special. He looked forward to participating in the Toys-4-Tots ride each year until he was physically not able. When he wasn't on his motorcycle, Sammy could be found with friends or at the local VFW, enjoying the camaraderie of those who knew him best and loved him as he was.
Sammy is survived by his sister, Pamela Kay Burgay; brother, Darrell Beavers and nieces and nephews, Paul, Kellie, Scott, Melissa, Christopher and Crystal. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Helen Scott Beavers and brothers, Garry Beavers and Dennis Beavers.

Sammy did truly love his Harley. I loved dancing with him at the VFW, he was a great dancer. His cousin Patricia was my best friend & the only way her mother would let us have the car to ride around, was for us to take Sammy with us. We would make him get down in the back seat so no one would know we had her little cousin with us. We laughed about that a lot as we got older. He was one of my good friends & always had that cute smile and all that long hair. He will be missed.
