In Loving Memory of Sammy Chavez
Sammy Chavez, a cherished soul, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, in Roswell, New Mexico, at the age of 63. Born on June 5, 1962, to the beloved parents Ramon and Perfiria Chavez, Sammy's journey through life was filled with love, laughter, and an infectious spirit.
He is welcomed into eternal rest by his dear parents, Ramon and Perfiria, as well as his sister Helen Flores and brothers Navor and Richard Chavez. Sammy’s legacy is carried forward by his loving siblings: Voila (Nick), Jimmy (Emma), Margaret (Lardy), Manuel (Pauline), and Orlando Chavez. He also leaves behind a wide circle of loving nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives were brightened by his presence.
Sammy was a vibrant spirit who found joy in the simple pleasures of life—dancing, singing, and spreading laughter wherever he went. His warm smile and friendly nature shone through as he greeted everyone with a cheerful inquiry, always eager to connect and make friends. Sammy’s heart was especially full of love for his dear friend, Margie, who brought him great joy.
His passion for life extended to his participation in the Special Olympics, where he thrived alongside teammates and friends, and he cherished the memories made while traveling across the country. Food was another source of joy for Sammy, who delighted in sharing meals and moments with those he loved.
He will be remembered fondly by his pallbearers: Steven Anaya, Louie Ray Montoya, Patrick Chavez, James Chavez, Matthew Moore, and Joe Chavez, as well as honorary pallbearers Yvonne Moore, Helen Garcia, and Cindy Lucero.
Visitation and Rosary will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 beginning at 11:00 am at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 17 Hwy. 60, Socorro, NM. Interment will follow at La Sagrada Familia Cemetery with his dear parents.
As we celebrate the life of Sammy Chavez, we remember his joyful spirit, kind heart, and the countless lives he touched. He will forever be missed and loved by all.
