Born in Plainfield, he was a graduate of Plainfield High School. Sam was formerly employed by VA Hospital in Lyons, NJ. He was a former member of Mohawk Lodge #307 in Plainfield and served in the US Air Force. He was a graduate of Alabama State University.
SAM enjoyed going to the park, listening to old school music while smoking his Mary Jane, outings with friends and family.
He is predeceased by his father, John B. Folk, Sr., daughter Sameka Folk and sister in law Lushiryl Thomas-Pierce.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Refina Folk; one daughter: Samiyah Folk; His Niece/daughter Nora; his mother Mary Folk; mother in law Evetta Thomas; father in law Alfred Bugg; three step-sons; Al'Davon Thomas, Jahmal Hailstock (Brianna) and Bilal McFadden; 3 grandchildren Langston, Nella, and Aurora; six siblings; Marion Folk-Cramer, Shawnta Folk-Withers, Tasha Wise (Rodney), Ebonie Folk, John B. Folk, Jr. and Angelique Folk; sisters in law Cathy Teague (Pop), Arteria McCummings, EvetteThomas (Eventon); Annesia Thomas (Dexter); two brothers in law Michael Pierce and Corey Lemmon (Shameika); The P POSSIE, Coolidge, Prince, Money Kev. and Oneal (RIP); his barber and friend Sonya; longtime friend Haniff; dedicated caregiver and friend Mashia. In addition, a host of nieces, nephews, co-workers, friends and family.
