Mattie Ann Louise Smith was born on January 7, 1955, in Monroeville, Alabama, and departed this life on October 28, 2025, in Daphne, Alabama. Throughout her life, Mattie Smith was guided by her faith, beginning with her early years as a member of the historic Saint Louis Street Missionary Baptist Church and later joining the Saint James Missionary Baptist Church of Mobile, Alabama.

She attended public schools in Mobile, Alabama, including Caldwell Elementary School, Dunbar Middle School, Williamson High School, and Murphy High School. Mattie Smith pursued higher education, earning an Associate's Degree from Bishop College and a B.S. Degree and a Master's Degree from Alabama State University.

Her career was dedicated to service and education. Mattie Smith worked as an educator in the Mobile County School System and also served as a Mental Health Worker at Searcy Hospital in Mount Vernon, Alabama. She was known for her compassion, commitment to her work, and her love for nurturing those around her.

Visitation hours will be held from 3-6 pm on Friday, November 7 at B.E. Brown & Co. Mortuary. 5817 Grelot Rd. Mobile, Alabama 36609. Mattie's celebration of life services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Saint Louis Street Missionary Baptist Church at 11:00 am. The Interment Ceremony will be held at 3:00 pm at Memorial Gardens of Fairhope, Alabama.
