Samuel Christopher Freeman (Sam), an esteemed member of the Dacula community, will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Sam transitioned into the presence of his loving Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, in the early moments of Thursday, September 5, 2024, as the result of a tragic accident on his way home from work.
Born on February 22, 1961, in Panama City, FL, Sam was a loving husband to Beth Freeman, a devoted father to his children Corbin Todd Smith, Christopher Joseph Freeman, and Abigail Elizabeth Freeman, and grandchildren, DeLaney Fernandez and Kai Todd Smith.
Throughout his life, Sam found joy in sports, excelling on the football field, track, and basketball court. After high school, Sam attended college and enlisted in the United States Army, where his engineering and electrical maintenance skills developed further.
Sam met, fell in love with, and married his beloved wife, Beth, twenty-five years ago. Together, they embarked on a journey, building their family to love, honor, and serve the Lord, one another, and others.
Over the years, Sam embarked on a journey to provide for his family through varied gifts and abilities. In recent years, Sam worked as a dedicated maintenance technician operator in the distribution industry. He displayed unwavering commitment to his work and continuing education to develop his skills and abilities.
Sam, Beth, and their children served the Lord through various ministries and congregations in the metro Atlanta area. Sam and Beth spent years serving the Lord through Foundations International Ministries (FIM), embarking on meaningful mission trips to Zambia, Africa, and various other opportunities within the United States, providing love and support to others. Sam and Beth have been faithful shareholders at CityGate Atlanta Church for several years, serving in various capacities, especially in intercession and personal ministry of prayer and discipleship.
Aside from his professional pursuits, Samuel possessed a gift for poetry. His words touched the hearts of all who had the privilege to read them. His talent as a poet reflected his deep sense of empathy and compassion, which endeared him to his family and friends.
Samuel was preceded in death by his brother, Micah James. He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, children, and grandchildren; his father and step-mother, Samuel and Rosie James; mother, Hattie Freeman; siblings Cedric Lorenzo Freeman (April), Willie Kathryn Freeman, Beverly Grace James-Ellison (Greg), and Jeffrey Allan James; his cherished grandchildren DeLaney Fernandez and Kai Todd Smith; as well as his nephew, Wesley Freeman, and his nieces, Jasmine Freeman and Brianna James.

Burial will follow at Peachtree Memorial Park with military honors. The family will gather with friends on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory.
